Perkin Elmer VICTOR3 V 1420 Multilabel Counter:
The VICTOR3 plate reader provides quantitative detection of light-emitting or light- absorbing markers. It is capable of detecting flash or glow luminescence, fluorescence, high-sensitivity time resolved fluorescence, homogeneous time- resolved fluorescence (LANCE), and photometry. Additionally, the instrument has dispensing, shaking, and temperature-controlled functions, and can read/scan from either the top or bottom of the plate. Available emission filters: D545, D572, D615, D642, D665, F460, F535, and F595. Available CW-Lamp filters: F355, F485, F531, P405, P450, P490, P540, and P560. Examples of common assays run: Luciferase, Fluorescein, Absorbance 450, and Absorbance 490.
Olympus Fluorescent Microscope:
The Olympus epi-fluorescent microscope has several filters installed, and is capable of detecting specific fluorophores via a custom defined narrow band-pass. A fluorophore-labeled protein can be visualized in live cells if expressed in adhered cells grown on 96-, 48-, 24-, 12-, or 6-well plates. However, the protein of interest can also be examined in fixed cells labeled with any of the listed fluorophores. The fluorescence images can be acquired with the attached MagnaFire camera. The images can then be processed with either Adobe Photoshop or Olympus Micro Suite Basic software. Detectable fluorophores include: Green-FITC, GFP, and Alexafluor 488; Blue-DAPI (4', 6 diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI), Red-Alexafluor 594, Alexafluor 555, tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanate (TRITC).
Luminex 200:
- An analyzer based on the principles of flow cytometry
-The system enables simultaneous measurement of up to 100 analytes in a few microliters of a single sample
Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC):
The ABSL-3/BSL-3 Biocontainment Core is equipped with Class II Type B2 Biological Safety Cabinets (BSCs). These HEPA-filtered BSCs provide outstanding functionality and safety, protecting both the users and environment. All work with infectious materials is conducted within the BSCs, as recommended by the CDC's Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL) 5th Edition. BSCs are routinely decontaminated.
HeraCell Incubator:
Humidified incubators that maintain fixed levels of carbon dioxide are essential for conducting cell-based research. The HeraCell incubators have some of the best features for work in a Level 3 facility: high-heat decontamination cycles, and antimicrobial, copper-interior surfaces. These instruments are checked weekly for temperature and CO2 levels, and are periodically decontaminated.
