Joel M. Dalrymple Memorial Lectureship Award

Richard Yanagihara has been selected as the recipient of the Joel M. Dalrymple Memorial Lectureship Award in recognition of his decades-long contributions in hantavirology and for pioneering the discovery of genetically distinct and phylogenetically divergent hantaviruses harbored by shrews and moles (order Soricomorpha, family Soricidae and Talpidae) and bats (order Chiroptera) in widely separated geographic regions across four continents. The award was presented at the IXth International Conference on HFRS, HPS and Hantaviruses, held on June 5-7, 2013, in Beijing, China. His lecture was entitled: “Hantaviruses: A Story of Rediscovery and New Beginnings”.
