Description: CLC Workbench is software environment that enables users to make a large number of advanced bioinformatics analyses, combined with smooth data management, using excellent graphical viewing and output options. This workshop will introduce the users to the CLC platform and showcase the most used bioinformatics functionality and pipelines. The workshop tentative program is as follows:

Morning Session (General bioinformatics tasks)

  • Multiple sequence alignment and phylogenentic trees
  • General sequence analysis tools
  • Basic protein analyses
  • Basics of BLAST, Local BLAST, NCBI BLAST, importing vs. creating your own DBs, vs. BLASTing against target sequences in your file space.
  • Public DB sequence search and retrieval

Afternoon Session (Next-Gen sequencing workflows and applications)

  • Importing and pre-processing Next-Gen data
  • Mapping to references
  • De novo assembly
  • RNA-Seq and digital gene expression analysis
  • SNP detection
  • DIP (small indel) detection
  • ChIP Seq
