An instrument-dedicated, BSL-2+-certified, aerosol-management system has been installed to isolate the BD FACSAria IIu Flow Cytometer from other instrumentation within the Molecular and Cellular Immunology Core. This customized bioBUBBLE enclosure, which is retrofitted with a dedicated ventilation system (Propel Labs, Inc., Fort Collins, CO), will eliminate the need to restrict access to the entire core facility and will provide an adequate safety shield for the flow cytometer operator during live-cell sorting.
