Description: Since being recognized by the First Lady of Cameroon for her contributions to science, Professor Rose G.F. Leke has become an international leader in global health, polio eradication, malaria elimination policy and teacher of future scientific leaders. In September 2015, the Global Commission for the Certification of Poliomyelitis Eradication concluded that wild poliovirus type 2 had been eradicated worldwide. Professor Leke was one of the six members of the commission who certified global elimination. Currently, she is a member of the WHO Malaria Policy and Advisory Committee (2012 to present) that makes recommendations on global malaria control and elimination. In her presentation, Professor Leke will share her experiences in global health and hopes that young scientists in the audience will be encouraged to participate in policy-making decisions that impact global health.
