General Information

We are please to announce that the registration for our Software Carpentry Workshop (http://software-carpentry.org/) is now open. Software Carpentry’s mission is to help scientists and engineers get more research done in less time and with less pain by teaching them basic lab skills for scientific computing. This course is aimed at graduate students and researchers in the life sciences field and covers the following core scientific computing skills:

The Unix (Linux/Mac) shell
Introduction to programming in Python
Tracking changes and sharing work efficiently using Git and GitHub

Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.

Who: The course is aimed at graduate students and other researchers.

Where: Information Technology Center (street address of home location). Get directions with OpenStreetMap or Google Maps.

Please note that a $20 refundable deposit is required from each registrant. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received less than 48 hours prior to the event. You can register here

Requirements: Participants must bring a laptop with a few specific software packages installed (listed below). They are also required to abide by Software Carpentry’s Code of Conduct.
