Description: Perl is one of the most widely adopted scripting languages in bioinformatics due to its highly developed capacity to handle text and its plethora of libraries to seamlessly handle even the most complicated analyses. This introductory workshop is intended to offer participants practical experience in Perl programming and provide them with the fundamentals they need to use it for solving their day-to-day bioinformatics problems. A series of comprehensive lectures and practical examples with real-life examples will be given. The workshop will be presented over two days. The first day will cover a general introduction to Perl syntax and is open to everyone. The second day will focus exclusively on bioinformatics topics of interest to life scientists.
