Description: Message from Dr. Gurary:

MCI core just acquired a new addition to it’s instrument inventory: The Attune NxT Acoustic Focusing Cytometer. The innovative design of the instrument results in precise data and acquisition speeds up to 10x faster than other flow cytometers. It is ideal for immunophenotyping and signaling studies, cell cycle analysis, detection of rare events, stem cell analysis, cancer and apoptosis studies, and microbiological assays.

Acoustic focusing enables:

  • Elimination of concentration steps

  • Absolute cell counts

  • Effective background fluorescence reduction by a simple dilution step, eliminating the need to wash fluorescence samples before analysis

  • No-lyse/no-wash assays

  • Analysis of samples that have low cell numbers, including CSF, stem cells, mouse bone marrow, mouse blood, and thin needle aspirates

  • Acquisition of a high volume of samples in minimal time

  • Acquisition of cell up to 300um in size

We will be holding training for the Attune Nxt flow cytometer on Thursday, 10/20, at 10am and on Friday, 10/21, at 10am. The sessions will probably last at least 4 hours. We are offering 2 sessions to keep the size of the groups manageable and allow some hands on training. Both sessions well be held in MCI Core Rm 330. If you are interested in attending either one of these training sessions, please contact Alexandra Gurary at gurary@hawaii.edu or at 692-1794 and let me know which session you can attend (fastest responders get their choice of day).
