Another New NIH Grant
08 November 2016COBRE Investigator, Saguna Verma, Ph.D., an associate professor in the Department of Tropical Medicine, Medical Microbiology and Pharmacology, has been awarded an R21 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for an exploratory project aimed at understanding how Zika virus (ZIKV) gains entry into immune-privileged sites of the testes. New knowledge about the mechanism of testicular infection will facilitate the development of strategies to prevent virus entry and sexual transmission.
